ASTU Library is committed to delivering high-quality information resources and modern learning spaces for students, researchers, faculty members, and staff. The library combines traditional collections with innovative digital services to meet the changing academic needs of the university.

Engineering and Central Library

• The Engineering and Central Library is opened in 2013 and the biggest library of all ASTU branch libraries in collection size and seating capacity.
• The Library has around 28,240 books, periodicals and thesis.
• Its collection is mainly for all Engineering students and Staffs.
• And also gives this service for all users having admission to the library.

Business and Educational Science Library

• The Library was opened in 2006.
• It has a seating capacity of 500 users at a time.
• The Library has around 19,463 books, periodicals and thesis. Its collection is mainly for School of Business and Educational Science students and Staffs’ and also gives this service for all users having admission to the library.

Humanities Library

• The Library has around 12,290 books focusing on humanities such as history, geography, sociology and language.
• In addition, the library provides periodicals services for its users.
• Its' collection is mainly for school of humanity and Social Science Students and staffs of the school.
• And also gives this service for all users having admission to the library.

Law Library

• The available collections in Law Library are around 2,100 books and the collections are mainly for law students and Staffs.
• And also gives this service for all users having admission to the library.

Natural Science Library

• The available collections in Natural Science Library are around 12,980 books and the collections are mainly for Natural Science students and Staffs.
• And also gives this service for all users having admission to the library

Female students’ library

• The objective of opening the separated female students’ library is to create conducive reading environment for female students in addition to the all school libraries.
• The available collections in Female students’ Library are around 9,050 books in various disciplines including humanity, engineering, business and natural sciences which can be used for all female students of university. The library has the seating capacity of about 450 users at a time.

Mission

The mission of Adama Science and Technology University Library is to foster intellectual growth, academic success, and lifelong learning for the students and staff of the university. ASTU as academic library which serve the university community that adds a value in the teaching learning process by providing the relevant information resources for students and university community.
To achieve this mission ASTU Library provides 7 days per week for 24 hour services for its customers.

Resource and collection

• The available collection excluding periodicals is about 115,000 volumes of books and documents of different subjects.
• The Library is using open system based on Dewey decimal classification/DDC/ scheme.

Library Technology based service

• Digital Library:The library has implemented Digital library using Greenstone Digita library software. Digital contents (eBooks and e-Journals) are organized, built and accessible for users via internet in the campus network.
• Koha: To support the manual Circulation services, the library also implemented library automation system using Koha integrated library management software. The library patrons can use e-Catalog services (OPAC) to select the type of books they need to borrow from the library online.
• DSpaceDigital Repository: ASTU Library has implemented Institutional Repository (IR) system using DSpace digital repository software to collect, manage, preserve and disseminate collections of digital content generated by school, staff, students at ASTU.
