Adama Science and Technology University (ASTU) successfully hosted its 7th Annual Job Expo 2026 under the theme፡ “Engineering Ethiopia’s Future Workforce: From Classroom to Industry.” The event was held on June 22, 2026, at Borati Hall, followed by job exhibition booths and networking sessions at the University’s New Multipurpose Hall.
The expo brought together the University’s top management, academic leaders, representatives from the Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI), more than 40 recruiting organizations, and the graduating Class of 2026.

The program was officially opened by Dr. Lemi Guta, President of ASTU. In his opening and welcoming remarks, Dr. Lemi emphasized that the University is committed not only to producing competent graduates for the labor market but also to creating opportunities that connect graduates with potential employers. He noted that the annual Job Expo serves as a platform for graduates to showcase their skills, competencies, and potential through networking and interaction with recruiting organizations.
Dr. Lemi further highlighted that the employment rate of ASTU’s graduates has reached 86.3 % according to the findings of recent tracer study. He also expressed his sincere appreciation to all participating organizations for their continued support and collaboration.
Following the opening session, a keynote address was delivered by Dr. Hassan Hussein, Director General of the Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI), on the topic “The Employability–Entrepreneurship Nexus: Preparing Ethiopian Youth for the Future of Work.” Drawing on his personal and professional experiences, Dr. Hassan underscored the importance of cultivating an entrepreneurial mindset among young people. He encouraged graduates to dream big, start small, and view every job opportunity as a valuable stepping stone toward long-term career growth and success.
In another presentation, Mr. Addis Abe, ASTU Student Skills Development Coordinator, delivered a speech entitled “From Graduation to Employment: Lessons from ASTU Tracer Studies.” He discussed the University’s strong engagement with recruiting organizations and highlighted the positive impact of these partnerships on the employability of ASTU graduates.
The event also featured a presentation by Dr. Meseret Dirriba, an academic and research staff member from the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. Her presentation, “Redefining Employability: Cultivating an Entrepreneurial Mindset for Ethiopia’s Future of Work,” emphasized the need for graduates to develop innovative thinking, adaptability, and entrepreneurial competencies to thrive in an evolving labor market.
A key highlight of the Expo was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Gheero Solution PLC and ASTU, aimed at strengthening collaboration between academia and industry and creating more opportunities for student internships, practical training, and employment. The successful completion of the Expo further strengthened ASTU’s role in preparing skilled, innovative, and industry-ready graduates who can contribute meaningfully to Ethiopia’s socio-economic development and the future world of work.
