In an inspiring blend of history and innovation, the team members from the College of Mechanical, Chemical, and Materials Engineering recently visited the renowned Adwa 00 Museum. The visit was part of an initiative to connect academic and technological advancement with the rich historical heritage of our nation.

The Adwa 00 Museum, a monumental site dedicated to preserving the legacy of the Battle of Adwa and Ethiopian resilience, offered the team a profound experience. During the visit, they explored artifacts, documents, and visual installations that narrate the story of Adwa’s triumph and its role in shaping global perspectives on sovereignty and freedom. This visit aimed to foster a deeper understanding of the role history plays in inspiring future innovations. Faculty members engaged in discussions on how lessons of resilience and ingenuity from the past can inform current and future projects in engineering and technology. Dr. Alemayehu, Dean of the College, emphasized the importance of such visits, stating, “As engineers and innovators, we draw strength not only from science but also from the enduring values of our culture and history. Adwa reminds us of the power of strategy, unity, and determination—principles that are as vital in engineering as they were in achieving freedom.” The visit concluded with an interactive session led by Dr. Shimels, where team members had the opportunity to connect historical artifacts with technological parallels to further preserve and disseminate this rich heritage.
