The College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CoHSS) has officially launched two vital initiatives aimed at significantly enhancing faculty professional development and bolstering the quality of education: the English Language Improvement Program (ELIP) and the Higher Diploma Program (HDP).

The launch was marked by a kick-off meeting attended by College Deans, Department Heads, and faculty members, highlighting a unified commitment to educational excellence. As articulated by College Dean Dr. Edo Rago, the programs are designed to:

• Elevate Teaching Effectiveness: The HDP strengthens pedagogical competence and equips academic staff with essential knowledge on effective teaching practices.
• Build Confidence and Fluency: ELIP focuses on building communication confidence and fluency beyond basic grammar, directly improving instructional delivery.
• Improve Student Outcomes: The ultimate goal is to enhance skill acquisition, increase student motivation and confidence, and address emerging educational demands.

University Academic Vice President Professor Yadessa Melaku emphasized that these programs represent a major step toward improving overall educational quality and empowering students to achieve their full potential in an evolving higher education landscape.

Coordinators Dr. Mekonnen Gemechu (ELIP) and Dr. Kumsa Donis (HDP) provided detailed presentations outlining the programs' rationale and importance in promoting teaching professionalism and adaptation within the curriculum.

The training concluded with Dr. Feleqe Yehuwaleshet underscoring the immediate value of the programs, noting that they:
