ASTU Celebrates July 2025, First Female PhD in Technology & Innovation Management!

The Department of Technology and Innovation Management, College of Humanities and Social Science at ASTU, proudly announces the successful PhD defense of Dr. Meskerem Tadesse, marking her as the first female PhD graduate in the department's history!

Dr. Edo Rago, Dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CoHSS), formalized the college’s commitment to institutional excellence by signing the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) agreement for the 2018 E.C. academic year. This signing followed the university-level ceremony where top ASTU leadership solidified their accountability to institutional goals.

As is standard practice, Dr. Edo signed the agreement with Dr. Teshome Abdo, Vice President for Academic Affairs, cascading the university's strategic vision into actionable and measurable goals for CoHSS. This commitment ensures the college's operational output and performance are aligned with ASTU's broader academic and strategic objectives.

The CoHSS is proud to announce a significant academic achievement: Dr. Shibiru Ayalew Melesse successfully defended his PhD dissertation on May 19, 2025. His pivotal research is titled "The Financial System in Ethiopia: Digital Readiness, Innovation, and Inclusiveness."  This milestone, alongside Dr. Ifa Muleta Boru's defense on May 17, 2025, marks a pioneering moment for ASTU, as they are the inaugural PhD graduates in Technology and Innovation Management.

The College of Humanities and Social Science proudly announces a historic milestone: the successful defense of Dr. Ifa Muleta Boru's PhD dissertation! Dr.Ifa, from the Department of Technology and Innovation Management, has achieved the distinction of presenting the first-ever PhD dissertation in the field of Technology and Innovation Management at Adama Science and Technology University, and indeed, in Ethiopia. His compelling research is titled "Enhancing Ethiopian's Agro-Industrial Competitiveness: The Role of Sectoral Innovation Systems and Integrated Agro-Industrial Parks in Global Value Chain Integration."

On March 20, 2025, faculty members and academic and research assistants from the CoHSS at ASTU participated in a comprehensive training and consultative meeting organized by CoHSS senior staff members in collaboration with the ASTU President's Office. This event, held from March 17 to 21, 2025, aimed to provide academic staff and research assistants from all five colleges with insights into the university's ongoing development projects and strategic vision.

On January 20, 2025, at Borati Hall, Dr. Edo Rago, Dean of the College of Humanities and Social Science, officially signed a Key Performance Contract (KPC) with Dr. Teshome Abdo, the Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA) of Adama Science and Technology University (ASTU).
