On April 4, 2025, the College of Mechanical, Chemical, and Materials Engineering (CoMCME) held a warm and emotional farewell ceremony for Dr. Getnet Asrat, Associate Dean of CoMCME. The program, organized by the CoMCME Social Committee, brought together both academic and administrative staff to honor and celebrate Dr. Getnet’s remarkable service and dedication to the college and the broader ASTU community.

The event featured heartfelt speeches, warm acknowledgments, and expressions of gratitude. In his opening remarks, Dr. Shimelis, Dean of CoMCME, appreciated the Social Committee for organizing the ceremony and paid tribute to Dr. Getnet’s outstanding commitment, hard work, and leadership. He stated, “Dr. Getnet has been a pillar in our college, always pushing forward with dedication and professionalism. We sincerely thank him for all he has contributed and wish him great success in his next chapter.”

As a token of appreciation, CoMCME presented a gift to Dr. Getnet, symbolizing the deep respect and admiration held for him by his colleagues. In addition, the college also recognized the contribution of Dr. Alemayehu, the former dean of CoMCME, who was honored with a thank-you gift in appreciation of his continued support and service.

In his farewell message, Dr. Getnet expressed his heartfelt gratitude, saying, “Thank you to all the CoMCME staff and the entire ASTU community for making my journey here so meaningful. It’s been a pleasure to work alongside such dedicated and supportive individuals.”

Dr. Alemayehu also took the opportunity to extend his best wishes to Dr. Getnet, highlighting the importance of teamwork and continuous service, and expressed his appreciation for the recognition.

The ceremony concluded with attendees sharing their personal reflections, best wishes, and warm goodbyes. It was a memorable event filled with appreciation, joy, and optimism for the future.
