A Center of Excellence (CoE) is an institute within an organization that is structured as an internal group of experts and specialized resources focused on a particular area of expertise. It is a centralized unit where best practices, tools, and subject-matter expertise are shared throughout the organization.
The main goal of a CoE is to provide leadership, guidance, and expertise in a particular field or practice area, such as technology, software development, or customer service. A CoE consolidates and disseminates knowledge, best practices, and effective strategies across an entire organization.
ASTU CoE is to become the best research center in Ethiopia and support the Ethiopian manufacturing industry through engineering innovations.
ASTU is to provide ethical and competent graduates in applied science and technology through quality education, demand-driven research, and community service. ASTU also provides innovative knowledge to support the socioeconomic development of the nation.
The proposed CoE organization chart consists of CAME, CTVE, CAMSE, CESE, IPS, CUHD, IWRIE and STI centering on the CoE headquarters, and a laboratory will be deployed under each CoE to achieve the research objectives of each CoE.
