CMSE Laboratories

CMSE laboratories

Considering the need to contribute to research and development through basic research activities, research areas, research components, and projects with universities, research parks, and national research communities, it is desirable that the following labs should be established.

Advanced measurement laboratory

This lab is used in the design and engineering of materials by measuring and analyzing material structure, properties, and chemistry from atomic to macroscale. In this area, it is essential to determine the structural, physical, and chemical properties of materials in various sizes by applying basic knowledge of physics and chemistry to applied research.

Electronic Materials and Devices laboratory

This lab focuses on material theory and computational science and utilizes a computational modeling approach to materials covering from atomic scales to macroscopic length and time scales. The research and development in this lab enable computational prediction of material response to various stimuli (mechanical load, temperature, electron excitation, etc.).

Advanced Materials laboratory

In this lab, the designs and processes of metals and alloys are developed to obtain the desired properties. This field is based on the understanding of thermodynamics, phase change, etc., as well as research and development in materials science and engineering based on the principles of chemistry and physics.

Metals Technology laboratory

This lab is to be used for research and development of ceramic materials, including design, composites, synthesis, and processes based on basic physics and chemistry concepts.

Ceramics Technology Laboratory

This lab is to develop next-generation polymer materials and composite materials by studying molecular design to obtain desired properties in individual polymers, polymer blends, and polymer composites and processing methods. In the case of composite materials, research on the science and engineering of materials formed by combining various materials into a single material is conducted based on the knowledge of materials science and mathematics.

Polymers and Composites Technology Laboratory

This lab mainly focuses on the design and engineering of electronic materials for the microelectronics industry. Topics include research and development of semiconductors, ceramics, metals, and polymers through specialization in chemistry and physics based on the understanding of electrical, electronic, and optical properties.

Computational Materials Science Laboratory

In addition to the basic understanding of materials based on measurement and modeling and the research laboratories based on the characteristics of materials such as metals, ceramics, polymers, composites, and electronic materials, research interfacing materials with various applications needs to be conducted to develop the manufacturing industry. The following two examples are typical examples. In addition, research and development should be conducted in response to social demand.
