About CAMSE

CAMSE’s research units are designed to address not only the key areas of materials technologies (metals, ceramics, polymers, electronic materials, and biomaterials) that reflect the characteristics of materials but also the emerging interdisciplinary themes (for example, energy materials, next-generation processing and analytical methods, materials theory and computational materials science, nanomaterials, etc.) to be able to pursue short-term and long-term goals. As the name suggests, the materials science and engineering field supports various engineering applications based on the basic research achievements from various scientific disciplines. Therefore, CMSE is very important for fostering basic science and making a future-oriented high-tech manufacturing industry. Therefore, the major intensive research areas of CMSE complementing the academic department of MSE are as follows.

  1. Synthesis and processing of materials
  2. Characterization and manipulation of materials
  3. Modeling and simulation
  4. Advanced materials-based device and system concepts

  • Contribute to the manufacturing industry through building capacity in advanced manufacturing
